NEW NOVELIST’S SUCCESS. A TALE OF THE MANSE. SYDNEY, July 28. Mr. K. P. Hodder-Williams has cabled to Mr. W. S. Smart, Sydney, announcing that the winning novel in the £5OOO competition organised by Messrs. Hodder and Stoughton and the Frederick A. Stokes Company, of New Y ork, has been won by Janet Beith with the novel entitled ‘‘‘No Second Spring.” The author is a Scotch woman and her novel is about a Scottish manse. The competition was open to authors throughout the world.
