Spradeagled the Field

Jt was rather astonishing to see the manner in which Amyrill and Pladie spreadeagled the field in the Woburn Hack. Both started from well out, having drawn 12 and 16 marbles respectively, yet they were clear at the home turn. Amyril never appeared to be in danger of defeat and he was holding Pladie easily at the post. The Taranaki filly is undoubtedly smart

and she may win again at the meeting, while Pladie also went so well as to be recommended at his next appearance. As the Woburn Hack field swung on to the course proper Colossical was a long way back and hud but two horses behind him. From this point he finished very strongly to get third, just heading Woodfull for that placing. While he had no chance with cither Amyril or Pladie, Colossical would have been very much closer to this pair had he received a better run. He too can be ticked off for future hack events, while Woodfull may be a good prospect on the later days of the meeting. While on the subject of Amyril, the Taranaki track watchers contend that this filly’s stablemate, Headmistress, is better than Tuesday’s winner, and should such prove to be the case Headmistress will take some beating in the Trial Plate on the second day. She will bo up against some tough ones. They think a lot of Drum Fire in the south, but he disappointed them sadly yesterday. He was lying third a furlong from the post and then he faded out of the picture to finish eighth. Errantry was another failure, but Grand Score, having his first run. went a. surpringly good race and is a prospect in the Trial Plate. Likely improvers that finished behind High Grader in the Vittoria Hurdles are Paleta, Ramuna, Vitaphonc, and Hounslow. The first-mentioned can be improved in his jumping and if he does this he may bent them all before the meeting concludes.
