MR. J S. McLEOD ELECTED DATES AND LICENSING COMMITTEE f Per Press Association. 1 WELLINGTON, July 12. L'he annual meeting of delegates to : the New Zealand Racing Conference I this afternoon unanimously elected Mr. J J. S. McLeod, of Hawke's Bay, president of the conference. The meeting expressed regret that the late presi- ' dent, Air. O. S. Watkins, by reason of : his health, felt constrained to decline nomination and placed on record its deep sense ot the obligation racing in ’ New Zealand owes him for his mauy ' years of devoted service. Mr. O. Nicholson was elected vice- ' president and the following were elected to tho Executive Committee: Messrs. L. V. Nelson (Auckland), A. ‘ C. Hanlon (Dunedin), D. E. Wanklyn (Canterbury), G. \V. Beatson (Hawke’s . Bay). T. E. Cocks (Greymouth), W. T. Hazlett (Southland), J. McLeod (Tara naki), J. H. Permit (Wanganui), and E. L. Riddiford (Wellingto.n). Air. D. G. A. Cooper was elected trustee vice ' Mr. I. G. Duncan (resigned). Tho special resolution by the Executive Committee that the Dates and Licensing Committee of the conference ' should be abolished and the powers, duties and functions of those commit- , tees under the Rules of Racing be transferred to and exercised and per- , formed by the Executive Committee was carried.
