Seas ,N.Z. waters): Heavy between Kaikoura, East Cape and the Taranaki Bight, rough elsewhere north of Farewell Spit and Akaroa, smooth to moderate thence southwards. Eastern Tasman: Winds variable, strong south-east to north-east prevailing, seas moderate to rather rough, with a confused swell. Weather: Cloudy to overcast and much mist and rai» in eastern districts north of Banks Peninsula and over most of the Auckland province, elsewhere a little rain.
