Prince George, responding to the Loyal Toast, said that British peoples and Governments had acquired increased prestige from the reaction from the recent crisis. Everywhere the eyes of the world was directed to their example. He added that the Empire justified itself by service to component peoples, as was evidenced by resolute efforts to adapt the Empire’s machinery among its own States to new conditions.
