A Press cable message from London states that Mr. Ramsay MacDonald left London by air for Lossiemouth and will be absent from the city for about ten days.

The newly-appointed French Ambassador, M. Corbin, was received by the King ;it Buckingham Palace, yesterday and presented letters of credence, states an Australian-New Zealand Press Association message from London.

Mr. Kinnaird has returned to Patca from Blenheim, where ho was the successful applicant for the position of inspecting engineer to the Marlborough Power Board. Mr. Kinnaird will take up his duties early next month. There wore 169 applicants for tho position.

It was arranged at a meeting of the Wellington Harbour Board yesterday, that Mr. Walter Nash, M.P., who will be in Canada at tho time, should be the board’s representative to a conference of port authorities to be held at Toronto from September 4 to September 9, states a Wellington Press Association message.

The funeral of the late Mrs. G. W. Palmer, who died on Wednesday, took place at the Aramoho cemetery yesterday morning. Many friends and. relations were present. Mrs. Palmer was the eldest daughter of the Rev. Latham Wickham, M.A., of Twyford, England. With her husband and young family she came to New Zealand some 35 years ago and settled at Westmere, later moving to Wanganui. Althought she took no part in public life Mrs. Palmer was widely known and beloved for her genial personality and fine character. Her health, had been ailing for some time. She leaves a husband and three sons and several grandchildren. An only surviving brother lives in England.

Mr. E. C. Cutten, senior Stipendiary Magistrate at Auckland for many years, has resigned, states a Press Association message from Auckland. Official advice to this effect was received to-day. The resignation takes effect on July 1, at the completion of his full term of service. Mr. Cutten is at present en route to England on extended leave of absence. Hu was appointed magistrate in 1908. Mr. Wyvern Wilson has been appointed the new Senior Stipendiary Magistrate at Auckland as from July 1. He will also take over Mr. Cutten’s post as president of the Children’s Court. Mr. Wilson, who for some years past has been stationed at Hamilton, and was at one time at Wanganui, been relieving Mr. Cutten since his departure some weeks ago. Mr. Wilson was born in Gisborne and educated in Auckland’. He was appointed magistrate 22 years
