Meteorological Office, Wellington, Thursday, May 25, 4 p.m. General Situation.—Pressure is rather high to the south and east of New Zealand, but a complicated series of depressions covers the remainder of the area, extending from New Zealand across the Tasman and over Australia. Forecast.—Winds: Light to moderate, variable south-east to northeast predominating. Seas (N.Z. waters): Smooth to moderate; Eastern Tasman Sea: Freshening east to north winds; seas, smooth to moderate, but rising. Weather: Still cloudy to overcast, with mist or fog in many places, scattered, but mainly light, rains probable, more especially in the North Island; temperatures moderate. The New Zealand Friends’ School, St. John's Hill, report for 24 hours ending 6 p.m. yesterday. Bright sunshine, 2 hours. Rainfall, nil. Shade temperature: Maximum, 60 deg. Fahr.; minimum, 49 deg. Fahr. Phases of the Moon. —May: First quarter, May 3. Full moon, May 11; Last quarter, May 17; New moon, May 24.
