Air. Thomas C. Kincaid, of Taihape, was welcomed as a member of the Wanganui Hospital Board yesterday. He will represent the contributary districts of the town districts of Bulls, Hunterville, and Afangawcka, and the boroughs of Alarton and Taihape. Guests registered at Spriggens’ Hot id include:—Air. AfcFarlano (Clinton); Mr. O. Cox (Hawera); Mr. E. H. Marfurt (Auckland). At the close of the monthly meeting of tho Patca County Council Inst Tuesday, the chairman, Cr. W. G. Belton, made a presentation to the engineer, Air L. F. Row, on his recent marriage. He expressed the wishes of the councillors, office staff and road staff, and Air. and Airs. Row should enjoy a long, happy and prosperous life together. Air. Row replied thanking them for their gift and wishes. At its meeting yesterday, the Wanganui Education Board placed on record its appreciation of the services rendered the cause of education by Air. T. B. Strong, who has just retired from tho position of director. Tt was decided to congratulate Air. N. T. Lambourne on his elevation to the directorship. Applause marked the carrying of the latter motion and it was significantly recollected that both Air. Strong and Air. Lambourne had served as chief inspectors under the Wanganui Board. The following resignations were accepted with regret at the Wanganui Education Board meeting yesterday:— Air. J. D. Aitken, head teacher, Wangaehu; Miss R. C. Seaton, infant mistress, Taihape D.H.; Miss A. AL Dixon, assistant, Waverley; Aliss L. Carroll, sole teacher, Erua Road; Aliss L. Wharton, assistant, Palmerston North Central; Mr. H. Johnson, sole teacher, Piriaka. It was decided to place on record the board’s appreciation of the services of Air. J. D. Aitken.
Air. Al. H. Oram, Palmerston North, was granted six months’ leave of absence by the Wanganui Education Board yesterday, to permit him to take a trip to the Old Country.
