Forecast. —Winds: Westerly, backing soon to south-westerly, moderate to strong generally and gale force in places south of Cape Egmont and Castle Point. Seas (N.Z. Waters): Heavy in Fovcaux Strait, rough on the west coast and offshore south of Castle Point, elsewhere moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Strong but decreasing south-west to south winds; seas rough. Weather: Changeable, squally and showers in most districts. Hail probable in the south and snow on the ranges. Temperatures, becoming cold. Phases of the Moon.—May: First quarter, May 3. Full moon, May 11; Last quarter, May 17; New moon, May 24.
