COMMITTEE APPOINTED. [ Per Press Association, i WELLINGTON, May 16. Ju order to assist the Government in reach 1 1. g a decision on tho question of New Zealand coinage, the Government has appointed xhe following committee: Messrs. A. D Pa’k (secretary to the Treasury, chairman; J. R. Frcthcy (Secretary of the Associated Banks), J. Wise (Department of Industries and Commerce), R M. Sun ley (Audit Department), Marshall (P. and T. Department), Mr. W. Sim (manager of the D.1.C., Wellington;, Mr. A. S. Burgess (president of the Associated Chambers of Commerce), and Sutherland (Numismatic Society). A clause in the Finance Act of last session empowered the Minister of Finance to enter into negotiations with the Royal Mint for the issue of New Zealand coinage, and these negotiations are still proceeding. Suggestions have been made that New Zealand should adopt tho decimal system of coinage in place of the present system, and this subject will be discussed'by the committee.
