NEW ZEALAND BUTTER DEAREB Received Mav 12, 5.5 p.m. LONDON, May 11. Danish butter is quoted at 96s per cwt.; choicest salted New Zealand, 78s to 80s; Australian, 76s to 78s. Unsalted butter about 2s premium. New Zealand cheese, coloured is 53s to 54s per cwt., white 46s to 48s; Australian, coloured 50s, white 46s to 475. Private cablegrams reporting on the market have been received by Dalgety and Co., from Samuel Page and Son, stating: “Market firm but top quotations nominal. The market is also excited because of the possibility of a quota. Cheese market is firm, but top quotations are nominal.” Joseph Nathan and Co.. Ltd., have received from their principals, Tcngrouse and Nathan, Ltd., London, the following cabled advice, dated May 11: — “Market excited on Parliamentary indications of Government intentions restrict foreign imports immediately. New Zealand butter. 79s to 80s per cwt. New Zealand cheese, white, 495, coloured 545.” A. J. Mills and Co., cable, London, May 31, market prices ruling at the close of business on Thursday, and describe butter market as firm; New Zealand finest, 78s, 80s per cwt. The cheese market is also reported firm; New Zealand white 47s to 48s per cwt., coloured 51s tos2s. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, has received the following advice from its London house, dated May 11:—“Butter, cheese advanced 4s to-day. apparently on the strength of Government exposition policy designed to raise commodity prices.” Messrs. Henry A. Lane and Co., Ltd., forwarded the following market report by cable to their Hawera office:—New Zealand butter: 78s to 80s. Market advanced suddenly. New Zealand cheese: White 48s. coloured 545. Market advanced suddenly owing to statement made in the House of Commons.
