AID FOR FARMERS
DAIRY CO.’S SCHEME LIVING EXPENSES FIRST [ Ter Press Association. ] CARTERTON, May 12. The Bidwell Co-operative Dairy Company, Pihautea {Soldier Settlement, has inaugurated a scheme to help suppliers over the winter. The pay-out by the factory amounted to fcHirpen.ce. Tho directors, with the sanction of the Commissioner of Crown Lands, adopted a scheme to pay each individual supplier £8 a month for actual living expenses, and on top of that sum to pay all farming expenses, hay, manures, seed, etc. Under ordinary circumstances the Commissioner of Crown Lands collects interests first. Under the new arrangement living expenses will be paid first, then farm expenses, then interest, and the farmer collects the residue at the end of tho seanon. In return each farmer signs a legal agreement to supply the factory with all his butter-fat for a period of three years. The above scheme is based upon a butter-fat return equal to sixpence a lb.
