Meterological Office, Wellington, Friday, May 12, 4 p.m. General Situation. —A break in the recent spell of south-westerly weather is now coming. A moderate anti-cyclone is advancing across the Tasman while pressure is falling in eastern. Australia. ' Forecast. —Winds: South-westerly, moderate to strong, but decreasing and later tending westerly in and south of Cook Strait. Seas (N.Z. waters): Rather rough to rough with a south-westerly swell, but moderating. Eastern Tasman: Moderate to fresh south-westerly winds, gradually veering to west and north; seas rather rough but moderating. Weather: Some scattered showers at first in the far north and south, otherwise mainly fine during the week-end. Temperatures cold and many frosts to-night, but milder to-morrow. A renewal of unsettled conditions is likely on the west coast by Monday. The New Zealand Friends’ School, St. John’s Hill, report for 24 hours ending 6 p.m. yesterday. Bright sunshine, 6 hours 20 minutes. Rainfall, .05 inches. Shades temperature: Maximum, 55 deg. Fahr.; minimum, 36 deg. Fahr. Phases of the Moon.—May> First quarter, May 3.
