SPIVAKOVSKY-KURTZ RECITALS

The box plan will be opened at the Bristol on Monday, May 15, for the Wanganui concert to be given by the renowned Spivakovsky-Kurtz Trio oi instrumentalists in the Opera House on Thursday evening next. The programme will include the well-known Schubert Trio in B Flat. Commenting on the Spivakovsky-Kurtz rendering of this work last month, the Sydney Morning Herald said: 44 Every movement of the interpretation was exquisitely alive. Where opulence of tone seemed called for it came forth in great measure. There was infinite variety of expression. The great beauty of their playing is that they suffuse the melodic line with unfailing emotional quality, yet they do it with flawless taste. Everything flows onward, poised and serene. Everything glows with colour. Only the highest musical culture can ©ring about a fusion of these two qualities.” In addition to the Schubert Trio there will be a group of solos by each artist, and a Handel Passacaglia arranged for violin and ’cello by the Norwegian composer, Halvorsen. Mr. Jascha Spivakovsky’s solos will include the Rakocay March (Liszt), ana the G Minor Ballade of Chopin. The party is expected to arrive by the Wanganella from Sydney to-morrow morning.
