WRESTLING
WANGANUI FIXTURE MATCH FOR SATURDAY WEEK. CONTESTANTS NOT DEFINITE. The first wrestling bouts of the new season, in Wanganui are to take place at the Opera House on Saturday week, May 20. Arrangements have been made by the Wanganui Wrestling Association for G. Walker, W. Beth, J. Patterson, Dr. L. Hall, and “Whiskers” Blake to come to Wanganui, and two of those men will wrestle, though no decision has been made yet as to which men will appear. Walker, the Empire champion, is well known in Wanganui, and is popular with the fans. The other four men are new arrivals to this country and it is reported that they form the advance guard for the wrestlers coming to New Zealand from America for this season. Blake, who has gained his nickname by his bushy black beard, is 6 feet 8 inches, and very powerful. Hall is stocky and Patterson something of the same build, but it is Beth, specialist in headlocks, who is the heaviest man of the quartette. No matter which men are drawn to meet each other a good bout is assured.
