J WELLINGTON, May IL The New Zealand Manufacturers’ Federation’s executive discussed the action of the Unemployment Board in inviting tenders for the supply of boots an 1 clothing, but the decision arrived at was not disclosed. Plans were finalised for the presentation of the manufacturers’ case before the Tariff Commission. The executive accepted an invitation by the Importers’ Federation to join a conference to discuss the tariff and other matters. Representatives from the four centres reported that progress was being made in bringing together 6rms engaged in the same branch of ndustry and the degree of eo-ordina-iion which had been achieved was unprecedented. It was agreed that the manufacturers were facing the tariff inquiry confident that, in the majority of cases, the present measure of protection granted them can be fully justified on the principles embodied in the Ottawa Agreement. and from other points of view.
