MANCHESTER’S ANXIETY. PROMPT MEASURES URGED. LONDON, May 10. In connection with the Japanese com-
petition, 25,000 people have signed tho Manchester petition pressing Parliament to take prompt and effective measures to prevent tho exploitation of Empire markets by foreigners manufacturing on a low standard of living and making it impossible for Britishers to compete.
