PUBLIC CONTROVERSY
BAILLIE-STEWART CASE. Received Mav 10, 9.48 p.m. LONDON, May 10. The Baillie-St ewart case continues to excite a public controversy, the father and mother being convinced that there has been a. miscarriage of justice. Tho Daily Express publishes further letters to Stewart’s solicitor, allegedly from Mario Louise ami Obst, in which Obst nays he is too busy to come to London and clear Stewart. Marie Louise writes that for the sake of her family she cannot reveal her identity. Licltenant Norman Baillie-Stewart, who first attracted attention as “the prinoner of the Tower,” was recently court-martiailed and sentenced to five years’ gaol, also being cashiered from tho army. The charges against him related to obtaining, collecting and communicating information which might, be useful to an enemy for a purpose prejudicial to tho State.
