WANGANUI SOCIETY A meeting of the Wanganui Horticultural Society was held this week in Messrs. C. L. Duigan and Co.’s rooms, Ridgway Street. There were present. Messrs. H. J. Duigan (chairman), V. B. Willis (hon. secretary), A. Sykes, H. P. Lance and J. D. McKay; Mesdames Wickham and Sykes and Misses Beaven and Marshall. Apologies were received from Messrs., C. Howard Edwards, C. H. E. Rhodes? P. Snowden Taylor, E. G. Roddy; Mrs. Bradshaw and Misses Mara, Taylor and McLeod. A statement was produced by the secretary in respect to the recent dahlia and gladioli show, which showed a small profit. Suggestions were made by Mr. McKay and Mr. Lance in respect of proposed alterations in the classes for the next dahlia and gladioli show and the. matter was left in the hands of the schedule committee. Mr. McKay arranged to deliver an address to growers on the growing of dahlias in Wanganui, and June or July were suggested as appropriate months. It was resolved to hold all future meetings of the society at four o’clock in the afternoon.
