APPLICATIONS FOR LICENSES AUTHORITY IN WANGANUI The No. 5 Licensing Authority sat in Wanganui yesterday, Mr. P. Thomson presiding. Associated with him were Afr. R. A. Wilson and Major J. C. Rollcston. Alany applications for licenses were heard throughout the day. The authority reserved its decision in each case and will announce them to-day. Application was made by G. 8. Crichton for a renewal of license for the service between Wanganui and Hunterville and to alter the time of departure from Wanganui from 5 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. It was stated that during a period of 10 weeks this service carried 1878 passengers, which included seven children from Hunterville district to Alarton on five davs per week. Nicholls Transport Co., Taihape, asked for renewal of licenses for Taihape and surrounding districts. It was stated in the application that th© passenger service was very Jean but the other transport was satisfactory. Webb’s Motors, Ltd., made application for a seasonal license between Pipiriki and Raetihi. This is a triweekly run for tourists. A request was made by the same firm for a license between* Raetihi and the Chateau for a tri-weekly service which connects with the river st earners. The applicant stated that the service was quite good last season and about half the traffic went via Pipiriki and the river. The firm also made application for a renewal of the passenger service license between th< Chateau and National I’ark Station. 1. D. Baker applied for the renewal of his license between Raetihi and Wanganui. The Raetihi Dairy Company asked for a license to carry passengers from Raetihi to Pipiriki and vice versa. E. H. S Slayer applied requesting a renewal of his license to ply between Marton and Marton Junction. C W. Barnes applied for a renewal of his license between Koriniti and Wanganui. The Wanganui River Services. Ltd., nnHed for the renewal of a license to carry passengers by road to Aten© and Kojor iti. Tin* application of Hodson’s Pioneer Co. for the renewal of a license tn continue a passenger service between Wanganui r.nd New Plymouth is to b® heard this morning.
