CHILDREN'S GARDENING CLUB

To the iDear Members of FlowerLand,—! have just returned from a very pleasant visit to the Palmerston Flower Show and I am sure that many of our members will be pleased to hear that the Wanganui Chrysanthemum Club won the handsome cup in a competition staged between Palmerston and Wanganui. Both clubs staged some wonderful blooms and Wanganui won by the narrow margin of half a point. I also staged a display of chrysanthemums sent in by Sybil Smith, Norma Cox, Maurice Cairns, Noel Cairns. Shirley Gilbert, Suzette Hcdgman and Violet Moore. This display created a great deal of interest and many people visiting the show were surprised that such splendid blooms were grown by children of tho Circle. Already Palmerston folk are moving to form a C.G.C., so L hope next year we will be able to have a competition with the Palmerston C.G.C. To those members mentioned I send my thanks for sending me in blooms. It is wonderful to think that after the long hours spent in producing such splendid blooms that so many of my members should cut them and send them to me for exhibiting. I do thank you all so much and feel that you have the interests of the C.G.C. at heart. Now, children, I have received a most wonderful letter from an admirer of the C.G.C. and I am sure when you read this letter you will be proud of the C.G.C. It is your efforts children that is making the C.G.C. what it is; and when wo find such helpful friends as “Uncle Wai” and now “Prince Charming” you will all agree that we must double our efforts and make our happy Circle the best ever. And now let us “blow the trumpet of friendship” and sod who enters—- “ Prince Charming”—and so “Prince Charming” speaks: It is with much interest I have read your column each week sinco the forming of the C.G.C. I think it a splendid idea, please accept my congratulations on the success you have attained and you have my sincere wishes for a “thumping membership.” You perhaps can realise how eager I am to become an active member also, so dare I venture to seek admittance to Flower-Land? I sincerely hope I receive your sanction. To make a long story short, what I wish to state is, I desire to help you in anv way I can, either in monetary form, or by buying plants or seeds, or both for the benefit of the C.G.C. I shall esteem it a favour if you will reply to me through your columns, answering my queries, and stating membership fee. Now please don’t ask me too many personal questions for the present, as I wish to remain, until it suits me, “anonomous. ” But you may rest assured of my support in connection with the club. Bravo “Carnatio.” Good luck and cheerio.—“ Prince Charming.” “Prince Charming,”—On behalf of the members of Flower-Land and myself please accept our thanks for your splendid letter. Wo all welcome you to our happy circle. May you enjoy your stay with us and may we prove worthy of the confidence you have placed in us.
