DELIBERATE “MISTAKE”
DID YOU NOTICE IT? Not many readers of this page could have failed to notice wjiat appeared to be a careless mistake last Saturday, when the caption under a big doublecolumn illustration gave the principals in “The Flag Lieutenant” as Jack Hulbert and Leonora Corbett. “How absurd,” said some who “spotted” it. But it was just one of those “deliberate mistakes” which are sometimes made as a test. It was really a reply to a challenge with regard to the interest excited by this page, and vindication of this writer’s assessment of its value was forthcoming in the speed with which attention was drawn to the ‘ ‘ error. ’ ’ Of course, it’s Anna Neagle and Henry Edwards who are featured in “The Flag Lieutenant,” which comes to the Plaza next week.
