BOROUGH ELECTIONS Exceptionally keen interest was taken in the election for Mayor and councillors. For the first, time for many years Mr G. J. Goldfinch was opposed for Mayor, but h© was again returned, his opponent (Dr. L. E. Jordon) ob laining 250 votes against 279. For the council there were 17 candidates, five being members of the late council. Only L. W. Nation was reelected and he was at the top of the poll with 348 votes. There were two booths, one at the junction and the other in the town. For tho Mayoralty, Dr. Jordon secured a majority at the Junction. The results were as follows: L. W. Nation. 348; J. D. O’Connor. 314; L. Jordon, 312; William L. Jones, 306; Michael Moohan, 295; John $. Walsh. 285; Jack Colman. 263; John R. Scott. 256; William J. Proffitt, 228; John 11. Mnrdie, 226; John R. France, 178; Willie S. Baird. 176; Magnus B Clark, 169; Bernard Langstono, 165; Norman Christie, 146; Ernest E. Purdon, 139; August J. Petterson, 103.
