THE STEEPLECHASE MEETING. NOMINATIONS TO-MOHROW. The Wanganui Jockey Club’s winter meetiug will engage attention from now till the date it will be held, Thursday and Saturday, May 18 and 20. This follows a fortnight after the Egmont fixture. Of prime interest to the racingfraternity is the fact that nominations for all events are due to close at 9 o’clock to-morrow r night. Seven events are included on each day’s programme, there being a hurdle race and a steeplechase each day. The Wanganui Steeplechase, with a stake of £2OO, w r ill be run on the Saturday, but the Grandstand Steeplechase (£125) is set dowm for the opening day. The Century Hurdles carries a stake of £175, and the Connolly Handicap £l5O. The programme should attract excellent entries.
