PERSONAL Miss A. Paterson, who has been spending the Easter holidays with her mother, Mrs. G. I. Paterson, returned to Wellington yesterday, spending th-week-end at I’ahiatua on the way. Miss P. Salmon, of Dunedin, is visit ing her aunt, Mrs. T. E. Roberts, re turning to Patea with Miss D. Roberts from Wellington. Mrs, W. Reid is a Plimmerton visitor to Patea and is staying with Mrs. J. McCarty. Mr. and Mrs. W. St oddart were in Patea last week-end on their return to Wanganui. Mr. and Mrs. 1,. F. Row have returned t*» take up their residence in Patea. WINTRY WEATHER Both on. Saturday, Sunday and Monday, wintry weather conditions prevailed. On Saturday the rain fell to heavily that all sports had to be abandoned, including the final shoot by the Rifle Club members for the last trophy of the season. This will be shot next •Saturday, however. Football practice games were also postponed, and the South Taranaki Rugby competitions will commence this Saturday. Although the rain cleared about three o’clock in the afternoon, no golfers attempted a game as the grounds wen* too heavy. On Monday rain fell steadily and heavily from an hour before mid-day until early yesterday morning, the total rainfall for these tw’enty-four hours being 2.2 inches, one of the heaviest recoided in Patea over the past ten years.
