ANZAC SERVICES Tributes to those who gave their lives in the Great War were made by a gathering of some three hundred people in the Patea Town Hall yester day morning at the public commemoration service held. Returned Soldiers. Girl Guides, Boy Scouts, Brownies and Cubs, the Patea troop of the Q.A.M.R and veterans of the South African War attended the parade before the service and marched to the hall led by the Patea Municipal Band under Bandmaster Christiansen. Following the service, the marching order was reformed and paraded to the Domain, where a short service accompanied the laying of wreaths on the memorial gates. The “Last Post” was sounded, followed by the return and dismissal at the Triangle of all ranks. Cn the Monday afternoon a short service was held at the school, where members of the Ministers’ Association, the Mayor and members of the school committee gathered to give the pupils a short service and address.
