WANGANUI AMATEUR CLUB ANNUAL MEETING HELD NOTES AND COMMENTS The annual general meeting of members of the Wanganui Amateur Road Cycling Club was held on Tuesday, April 4. Mr. C. Chainey was elected president owing to Mr. S. Hewgill senr. having to tender his resignation. The club very much regrets losing such a capable man, whose services were much valued, but look forward to Mr. C. Chainey with great pleasure. The club expects to have another prosperous year, which it enjoyed last racing season. Many new members were elected this year which, with those who joined last year, puts the membership in a strong position. Some excellent races and fast times should bo witnessed this year, when one considers the calibre of Jack Wade, who has joined the club. He is au ex-Auckland champion cyclist, and is the present holder of the three track racing titles, while some fast times are credited to him. Wade was elected club captain for the coming year, as Reg. Hodson, last year’s captain, has tendered his resignation, as he is working in Hunrcrville. It is hoped to see Beg out for some races though. To Jack Wade the younger and inexperienced riders will took for some hints on the game and on training. The office of vice-captain was voted to G. Constantine. u Conny” has been a very consistent riuer, Doth on the road and track, since he joined some three years ago. He has shown him self to be a popular rider, and the club expects him to impart some hint.to the new riders also. Followers of the sport on the track expected to see Bert Hansen on the road, but he finds more interest in his game of football. Members hope to see him out again ou the track next year, giving some of those great finishes with Jack Wade, which were witnessed during the summer. New and old members are reminded of the club ride which will start from the Royal Hotel on Sunday next at 10 a.m. It is at these rides that the new riders pick up hints, and any boy who desires to take up racing later is invited to take part in these rides.
