Mrs. Uttlcy and Miss Joyce Leyland have left for Dunedin to attend Maeandicw Road School Jubilee celebrations. ♦ * * * Mr. and Mrs. P. Livingstone, of Takapau, are guests at Spriggens’ Hotel. Miss Annette Johns*on is spending a few days with her brother in Pending. Superintendent Ross, of the W anganui Fire Brigade, and Mrs. lioss left to-day for a motoring tour of the South Island. Mrs. F. liobinson, of Kakatahi, was hostess at a delightful small children’s party in honour of her daughter Shirley's birthday on Saturday. Mi. and Mrs. S. Powdrell, St.John’s Hill, and Mr. and Mrs. Hunter are spending a camping and hunting hob day in the North. Mrs. Eon Watson, of P,einuera, Auckland, is spending a holiday in Wanga nui and is the guest of her mother, Mrs. Patterson, Gordon Park. Miss Selle Scanlan returned from Wellington to Palmerstou North on Saturday. She will visit Taranaki, going on to Rotorua and Auckland before crossing to Australia. Miss Scanlan will return to Wellington before she sails for England in June.

Mr. and Mrs. A. Harman, of Wellington, who have been spending a holiday at Maxwell as the guests cf Mr. and Mis. D. Morrison, returned yesterday. • * • • Colonel and Mrs. E. Turton, of England, who have been spending some months in New Zealand, leave this week for Sydney, en route to Japan. Mrs. Bullock-Douglas has returned to her homo in Gonville after a mostenjoyable holiday of four weeks spent at Auckland as the guest of Mi’s. Gee, Arney Road. She also had a delightful motor tour through the Ohincmuri and Waikato districts and visited Mrs. H. V. Haszard, at Patetonga, formerly of Castlecliff. Flying solo. Miss Hilda Montgomery, of the Canterbury Aero Club, made a solo flight from Auckland to Christ church in seven and a-quartcr hours’ flying time. She began tho trip on Saturday, making stops at New Plymouth and Wanganui. Encountering bad weather at Blenheim she decided to land, and spent the night there. Tho trip south on Sunday was done in the good time of Ihr. 45mins., with a following wind. The average for the trip is 2hr. lOmins. Miss who lives at Waircwa, Little River, and Mrs. A. Brustad (nee Miss Aroha Clif ford) are the only two Canterbury airwomen with long-distance flights to their credit.
