AUSTRALIAN POLLS TO-DAY BURNING SECESSION ISSUE (Sy Telegraph— Press Association—Copyright) Received April 7, 11.25 p.m. SYDNEY, April 7. General elections are being held in two States to-morrow—South Australia and Western Australia. A referendum on the question of secession from the Federation is also an issue for the electors of the latter State, where interest is at fever heat. All the other States are awaiting the verdict, as a decision in favour of secession is regarded as certain to have important , repercussions in Eastern Australia. There are 121 candidates for 41 contested seats in Western Australia, and < in nine electorates members are unop- , posed. Never before in the history of ; the State have the Ministers been so 1 seriously challenged in their elector- ’ ates.
