Meteorological Office, Wellington, Friday, April 7, 4 p in. General Situation. —The anti-cyclone has commenced to move eastwards, its centre now being located near the Chathams. A cyclone is situated on the western Tasman Sea. Forecast.—Winds, North-easterly to northerly, strong to gale force in the far north, elsewhere light to moderate but freshening. Seas N'.Z. waters): Rough north of East Cape and a considerable swell southwards to Kaikoura, elsewhere smooth to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Strong north-east winds and rough seas. Weather: Still fair to line in most districts but unsettled conditions setting in soon in the ftpnorth with rain becoming fairly general bv to-morrow night. Temperatures rising. The New Zealand Friends’ School, Tt. John s Hill, report for 24 hours ending 6 p.m. yesterday: Bright sunshine, 2 hours 10 minutes. Bainlall, nil Shade temperature: maximum, 70 deg.
