WAINUI-A-RUA SPORTS CLUB

ANNUAL MEETING HELD. Un Marvil 25 the Wainui a-rua Sports Club held their annual meeting in beautiful weather. The meeting was largely attended, visitors coming from far and near. The excellent condition of the road enabled a number of cars to come from Kaetihi right on to the Jerusalem sports ground. The ground presented a picture dear to the heart of the horse-lover, the number and quality of the horses present drawing many compliments from the visitors and especially from the judges. The meeting was well organised and went with a swing. The judging in the horse events was done by Mr. K. Baird of Raetihi. assisted by Mr. J. Hunter of the Parapara Road. The prizes were well distributed though Mr. Bamber did particularly well in the jumping events, which fact makes him the proud possessor of the Burgess Cup for the next twelve months. The day was brought to a successful conclusion by a dance in the evening, proceedings at which were enlivened by a number of concert items by rhe local Maori artists under the able direction of Mr. and Mrs. Wailford. The results were as follows: Weight Carrying Hack.—R. Tamekehu’s Blue Ale, 1; a. Ross’ Native, 2. Lightweight Hack.—A. Ross’ Native,i
