j UNION BOAT CLUB SOCIAL ACTIVITIES. At a special general meeting of the Union Boat Club on Wednesday night the deputy-chairman, Mr. A. Weir, presided over a good attendance. The annual report of the social committee was read and adopted and the balance-sheet approved. The election of a social committee to organise and control the club’s social activities during the “off” sen ,>n resulted in the following being elected: —Messrs. R. Mowat, G. Delves, H. Benge, L. Dillon and R. Gould. The annual report showed that the weekly dances had not been as successful as in past seasons, but the newly elected committee announced that a progressive policy would be adopted and they would make a determined effort to popularise the dances with a view to augmenting the club’s funds. The season of dances will commence at an early date.
A number of suggestions to make the dances more popular were referred to the new committee for consideration.
