Others, more for- ! ur.il, arc of silk, with little jackets or capes of contrasting n ateriul and col- | The new cottons are mostly white i and off-white, natural, grey and navyblue. All these colours lend themselves ,to vivid contrasts. Navy looks well, with white and red, grey with yellow, and canary-yellow with tangerine. These dresses have not completely displaced pyjamas and shorts, which are still made in severely tailored styles. Favourite materials arc grey and white flannels, and heavy white and navy blue linens and silks. The jacket is short and double-breasted, aim the plain or striped tailored shirt is in sharp contrast. Bathing suits of wool jersey or heavy tricot, which suggests hand-knitting, mould the figure closely, and have the merest suggestion of a skirt. Such a coat when worn over a tweed-like uncrushablc linen suit or heavy crepe or silk pique dress is suitable for all occasions. It is well also to have a light-weight coat, either of full or “swagger” length, of rough woollen material, white, navy or offwhite.
