CROQUET. On Thursday afternoon the closing day of the Croquet Club took place, with a lull muster of members present. Two competitions had boon arranged, ‘Airs. Afctcalfo and Airs. Hodgson having very kindly donated trophies for these. After a very pleasant time hai boon spent and lhe games ended, the president, before presenting the prizes to tho. winners, took the opportunity of thanking those who had donated the different trophies for play throughout the season, these being as follows: Mrs. Beer, Mrs. W. Muir, Mrs. R. P. Palmer, Mrs. AlitcaJfe. Mrs. Lupton, and Airs. [Hodgson. The trophies were won as | follows: j Championships Singles: Airs. R. P. Palmei; runner up, Mrs. Pepper. Yankee Tournament, Mrs. Beer’s trophy.—Won by Mrs. Pepper. Handicap Doubles, Afrs. Muir’s and Mrs. Palmer’s Trophies.—Won by Afiss Cleary and Airs. Salter. 20 Minutes’ Break.— Miss Cleary. L. Somiuervillo (Ore Orel, presided. Mr. P. C. Titc, organiser of the Wvllij.gton and Taranaki areas, reported on lhe work ho had done during the last three weeks. Ho had visited about 110 farmers. This had meant much travelling owing to the scattered nature oi lhe district. Many of the srtlh’r.H Ir.d joined up with lha union and some who had allowed their membership lo lap*e hml rejoined.
