BULLS

EDUCATIONAL Messrs. E. Hemingway, chairman of the Wanganui Education Board, and W. H. Swanger, retiring secretary, visited Bulls School on Friday afternoon, in continuation of a tour of schools of the district. Earlier in the day they visited Parewanui, Glyneath, Waitohi, Rongotea, Kopane, Carnarvon. Clydesdale, Ohakea and Sanson schools. Afternoon tea was served by Mesdames Churchill, Ralfe and Campion, and in returning thanks for hospitality extended, Mr. Hemingway expressed regret that their stay in Bulls had been such a brief one. During the past few days Messrs. Hemingway and Swanger visited the following schools: Lorgburn, Tiaketahuna, Rangiotu, Baincsse, Moutoa, Foxton, Oroua Downs, Taikorca and Glen Oroua. Next week they will visit the schools in Palmerston North, Ashhurst, and Pohangina Valley. R.S.A. The committee of the Bulls branch of the Returned Soldiers’ Association have appointed Rev. A. C. Lane as their representative on the local Unemployment Board. It is suggested that in order to hold the annual Anzas Service free from interruption by passing motorists, the service should in future be held in the Town Hall, and a deputation of returned soldiers will wait on the Patriotic Society in connection with the matter. The R.S.A. will also undertake the sale of poppies on Anzae Day. It was resolved to hold a social evenon Wednesday, March 29, and an endeavour will be made to enroll all returned soldiers of the district by that date. Admission will be free, but a collection will be taken up to defray expenses. DAUCE AT OHAKEA The Ohakea Ladies’ Hockey Club dance drew a large crowd to Ohakea Hall on Thursday evening, and the function ’was :. great success. Bramwell’s orchestra provided bright music, and an extra was played by Miss Anderson. A Maori quartette comprising Miss Tohu and Messrs. Royal and McGregor (2) was warmly applauded for a contribution to the vocal side of the entertainment. Monte Carlos were won by Miss and Mr. Taylor, and by Miss Cockburn and Mr. McGregor. Prizes for euchre were awarded to Mrs. Bramwell and Mr. N. Ingram, and the consolations to Mrs. Harris and Mr. G. Taylor. A competition for a goose (donated by Mrs. Taylor) was won by Mrs. S. W. Ingram. TENNIS As no inter-club match is set down for to-day teams will be picked on the courts, and a friendly match •./ill be played. Play will commence at 2.30 p.m. sharp. During the week-end a team of men from Taikorca and Glen Oroua Tennis Clubs will visit Bulls. The home club will be represented by the following:— R. Flower, R. Mansell, P. Ralfe, F. Ralfe, N. Amps, W. A. Ch /chill, H. Hendry and G. Drew. Exigencies, who are requested to attend, as games will be arranged for them, are as follows:—C. Duncum, W. Robertson, N. and A. W. Amon, H. Kearney, L. Hillier C. W. Farrer and M. C. Gould. Those playing aainst the visitors are requested to provide tennis balls. RIFLE SHOOTING A number of members of the Bulls Defence Rifle Club will take part in an Association Rifle Club match, to be fired at Manaweka to-day. WEEK-END CRICKET During the week-end an all-day game between Bulls and Greatford Cricket Clubs will be played on Bulls Domain. Both sides have been strengthened since they last met, and a keen game is anticipated. BOWLING Bulls Bowling Club will be represented in the Rangitikcl rinks to play Gonville, at Gonville, this afternoon. THE PICTURED This evening a wonderful aviation picture, il Hell’s Angel’s,” will be screened at Bulls Town Hall.
