LIGHTNING STRIKES BRIDGE

A SYDNEY EXPERIENCE SYDNEY, Dec. 16. Almost every building on both sides of Blues Point, North Sydney, was seriously damaged. Lightning struck the bridge and enveloped the steel work in a shooting flame. Passengers on a train bound for Hornsby had a terrifying experience. Loud reports were heard from under the train, which lurched, bumped up and down, and finally came to a stop in the middle of the bridge. Another loud report was followed by a flash of flame. It was later found that the overhead gear of the pantograph had been wrecked.
