A serious situation has arisen iu Alwar State, Central India, where peasants from hundreds of villages are refusing to pay land revenue to the Maharajah. Resistors, including hundreds who served in the Groat War, armed themselves with ancient rifles and muskets, destroyed roads and barricaded hte passes leading to their villages, defying the tax collector.
