PIGEON FLYING
YEARLING RACE RESULTS N.Z. FEDERATION EVENT. WANGANUI WINNER. In the yearling race of 250 miles ui over run by the New Zealand Homing Pigeon Federation on November 5, 1932, the following clubs entered birds; —Feilding, Manawatu, Fetone, Wei lington, Masterton, Dunedin, Oamarc, Wanganui and Dannevirke. There were 96 nominations and 87 acceptances. A strong north-westerly wind was blowing and some exceptionally fast velo cities were recorded. E. A. Carveil, of Wanganui, was the winner with a velocity of 1786.2 which must be a record for 250 miles in New Zealand. No re suits were received from Dannevirke and Masterton. The birds were liberated by the sta-tion-master at 7 a.m. and the winning bird took Bhr. 40min. 6sec. to do the distance of 318 milcg 1428yds.
