The Development League, authorising expenditure in this direction last night, expressed a general opinion that the several people who camped in that locality would be inclined to visit the city if they were informed how easy it was to reach. The proposed sign, which is to be of suitable dimensions, will give information as to the mileage and remind readers of the excellence of the roads and the scenery to be passed through on route. Upokongaro Ferry. It, is the opinion of the Wanganui Development League that no more suit able place could be found for the Upokongaro Ferry than the site it has always occupied in front of the town ship. Some time ago a suggestion was made, that it bo shifted, but it was decided by tin* league last night not to recoin mend that. It was considered, however, that charges for motor-cars were too high to encourage patronage. A suggestion is to be made to the authorities controlling the ferry to revise the scale of charges when the service is re-established. Mr ,1. J. Lissette, reporting to the league, said that the Wanganui County had made a proposition to the Waitotara County, and was awaiting a decision. Until the joint bodies conferred on that the matter of re-establishing the punt would be held in abevance.
