PIGEON FLYING
WANGANUI CLUB RACE FROM ASHBURTON The Wanganui Pigeon-flying Club held a race from Ashburton over the week-end, an airline distance of 323.3 miles. The birds were liberated by the stationmaster at 7.30 on Saturday morning, but owing to adverse weather conditions no birds arrived home on the day and tho winning bird arrived at 8.48 next morning, doing the distance in 14 hours 20min. 3sec. Douglas’ Always, 648.18 ... 4 W. Sunbourn’s Rusty, 642.36 .... 5 L. Rosemergy’s Indian Scout, 636.12 6 N. C. Barstow’s Fascination. 590.4 7 J. Dow’s Prussian King, 586.2 .... 8 A. Hope’s Hard Luck, 528.3 .... 9 T. Liddell’s Red Rollo, 525 19 J. A. Cook’s Old Timer, 500.6 .. .. 11 W. Fenton’s Brummy, 490.4 .. .. 12 The club will hamper this evening for tho Now Zealand Federation Yearling Championship from Wollsford.
