The first shark attack of the season occurred at Redhead Beach, near Newcastle, to-day, when Reginald Ogilvie, aged 24, captain of the Redhead .Surf Club, was terribly mauled on both sides ami on one hand. His lungs were perforated. Ogilvie showed amazing pluck. After beating off the shark he struggled ashore with blood pouring from his wounds and calmly asked his friends Io attend to him. “I'm done!” he then gasped, and collapsed. His conlit ion is critical. A further message states Ogilvie is given a fighting chance of recovering. In previous attacks by sharks no victim has shown more bravery than was exhibited by Ogilvie. Ho made no complaint while the ambulance men were attempting to staunch the blood from his wounds, remarking, “I can see my lungs arc gone, but 1 feel all right.”
