A NEW GRAND THEATRE i MANAGER ARRIVES TODAY | Executives of Amalgamated Theatres, • Ltd., arrived in Wanganui yesterday.! bringing with them experts, who, it is ! understood, are inspecting tl.e Grand! Theatre as a preliminary to extensive; alterations being carried out there.! Amalgamated Theatres, Ltd., are taking; over the Grand Theatre on a long lease, ; and, as announced some time ago, the ' theatre will be showing British pictures 1 only. On the face of a short conversation with the executives last evening, a re porter understood that the Grand Theatre will be changed to present an i entirely different appearance. Mr. R ' Scager, the company’s artist, is now ini Wanganui, and Mr. H- Dilger. chief of the mechanical staff, has al.-o arrived. I Mr. R. H. Allen, secretary, and Mr. K. A. Keenan, publicity manager, are) now staying at Foster's Hotel and wor f > ! last night busy at the theatre which , —*l! shortly come under their adminis- ’ tration. This morning the new manager j of the Grand Theatre will arrive in the ! city, he being Mr. K. Meikle, who bo- ' fore, being manager of the King's ■ Theatre, Thames, from wlwie he comes, I was manager of a leading Palmerston ' North theatre. He will be accompanied | by Mrs. Meikle.
