RAPANUI CLUB OPENING OF THE SEASON MANY VISITING BOWLERS The opening of the Rapanui green on Thursday was attended by many bowlers of kindred chibs, and members of the Rapanui Club. The weather was fine and the green in fair order for the commencement of the season, Mr Fred Handley (president) extended n hearty welcome to all the visiting bowlers and their ladies. He • hoped that the tine day would bo a ■ happy augury for a good season. The membership of the club was up to strength. He trusted that those visitors who were present -would visit the green again, and ho could assure them that they would receive a right good welcome. Mr Handley paid a tribute to the lady supporters of the club, who worked so hard to make the opening a success. He then called on Miss Handley to throw the first jack, which duty was well carried out. Mr Handley, amid much applause, then declared the green open. ’l’lio afternoon tea provided by the ladies was well up to the high stand aid of the club and was very much enjoyed by all. Official rinks from Wawrley, Wanganui East, W anganui West, Gonville, St. John’s and Wanganui, were iu attendance.
