Lovegrove, Liverpool Street, have left to spend the week-end at Afasterton. Miss A. Cowper is visiting Auckland. Mrs. W. N. Watson, Mangaweka, is a visitor to Wanganui. Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Boyd, of Wellington, are visiting Wanganui. Mr. and Mrs. C. Tremewan, of Wellington, are visiting Wanganui and are staying with Mrs. Tremewan’s mother, Mrs. Parker, Mathieson Street. Mrs. Morris, of Wellington, who has been the guest of Mrs. F. Carpenter, St. John’s Hill, returned yesterday to her home. Miss Mercia Hutchinson, _of Melbourne, is visiting Wanganui as the guest of Mrs. Jim Beard. Mrs. C. R. Powell is visiting Auckland, where she is a guest at the Central Hotel. Mrs. Russell Grace and Miss Nancy Grace, “Arles,” who have been visiting Timaru for the ladies’ golf championships, left the South last evening on their return to Wanganui. .» • * * Mrs. St. Clare Fantham, of Auckland, Who has been visiting her daughter in Wellington, is staying with her sister, Mrs. F. Sir Arthur Myers, Auckland, and John Walter Rivers, son of Dr. C. S. Afyers, London, is reported by a Press Association cablegram. * * * * Afrs. Riddell, of Palmerston North, who has been a patient at the Patea Hospital for some months, has now recovered enough to enable her to return to Waverley. where she is the guest of her sister, Afrs. Afitcalfe. Afrs. Stuart Cunningham has arranged for an orchestra to assist her in providing the music for the forthcoming farce “Under Where?’’ which is being staged on behalf of the Mayor’s Relief Fund. LADY JELLICOE CLUB. Ten tables were arranged for play at the weekly party held by the Bridge Circle of the Lady Jellicoe Club. The prize for the highest score went to Afrs. D. Alack in tosh and the lucky number to Mrs. E. W. Afercwethor. PALAIS DE DANSE. To-night (Saturday) dancing will be held from 8 till 12 p.m. in the pleasant surroundings of the Druids’ Hall, by the Palais do Danse, where a programme of old-time and modern numbers has been arranged for the enjoyment of patrons. The Gaiety Dance Band, together with coloured lighting effects, a good floor, good supper, and good Monte Carlo prizes, combine to assure the evening’s success. GUIDES’ CAMP. Arrangements are now well in hand for the entertainment in aid of camp funds, to be held in the- Opera House on 26th. instant. Items will be given by Guides, Brownies and Rangers, and a novel programme, which should suit all tastes, has been arranged. Watch the papers for further particulars, and keep Wednesday week free for the above concert. SOCIAL AFTERNOON. Th aid of the funds of thp Wanganui East, sub-committee of the Plankct Society, Afrs. H. G. Horsley, assisted by members of the committee, gave a delightful social afternoon at her home, River Bank, on Wednesday. There 1 were about forty present and all enjoyed the excellent programme arranged for their entertainment. Songs were well rendered bv Afrs. Bellringer, Afrs. Wills, Miss Nancy Robertson and Master Keith Lund. Musical and pianoforte solus by Alaster Colin ITd,s--ley were also greatly appreciated. Two competitions were won by ATiss Neilson and Miss Falconer (Dunedin’) and a treasure hunt was held and caused a great deal of amusement.
