Parkville, near Melbourne, where a number of shorn crossbred wethers were branded in June 1931 with a preparation made according to the British recipe. The journal states that “since branding, the sheep have been continuously exposed to the weather. Ten months have elapsed, and the brands are now plainly visible and equally as good as control brands on the same sheep made with a well-known and commonly used black proprietary marking fluid. ” The British formula is as follows: Wool fat, 30 parts by xveight; resin, 22 parts- carnauba wax, 3 parts; Kiesel-

guhr, 18 parts; ignited iron oxide, 6 parts (all by weight); with spirit to desired consistency.
