i Have tb e ground ready to start planti ing chrysanthemums this month. The planting may be continued until DeI comber. Dahlias already placed under glass should be occasionally syringed. Take off any cuttings from started shoots. Bed* out extensively phlox Drummoudi, French and African marigolds, and the numerous other kinds that may be planted now. Defer the planting of zinnais and celosias. Bougainvilleas, passifloras, cobcas, bignonias and other evergreen climbers may be planted this month. Sow seeds of comnen. celosia pyramidalis, portclacas, zinnias, petunias and balsams under glass, and also scarlet salvias. Azaleas, camellias, rhododendrons, bamboos for hedges and for single specimens may still be planted. Do not clip* hedges, as cutting off the new season’s tender shoots is most injurious and responsible for tecoma becoming sticky. Keep the surface soil in beds and borders lightly stirred at least once every week. Regularly mow lawns to keep a close, thick sward, and occasionally roll.
