Members are reminded of the golf dance to be held in the Parish Hall on Friday next (September 2). All members and their friends are cordially invited to attend. RUGBY UNION The president (Mr. J. Quirk) occupied the chair at the weekly meeting of the Taihape Rugby Union on Monday evening. A letter was received from the Utiku Club asking the union to enter a challenge on behalf of the Utiku Club for the McKee Cup at present field by the Marton Old Boys Club. The letter added that the Utiku Club wished to play the match on the first available Saturday and hoped that the union would make the usual grant of £5 towards the expenses of the trip. It was decided to enter the challenge as requested, and to pay the return fares of the Utiku team, including one emergency and a manager. The Pirates Club wrote intimating that they wished to challenge the Rata Club for the Presidents Rose Bowl, and the secretary was instructed to advise the Rata Club accordingly. The senior and junior competitions were declared closed. Pirates being declared the winners of the Senior Cup and Hautapu runners-up, while Utiku i were declared the junior champions for 1932, and Pirates runners-up. The secretary was instructed to write to the Pirates and Utiku Clubs congratulating them on their success. The matter uf holding a dance was held over until the next meeting. Injured Players’ Fund. It was decided that a senior match be played next Saturday between Pirates and Hautapu, the whole of the proceeds to go to the Injured Players’ Fund. GENERAL NEWS At the Magistrate’s Court on Friday, Francis MeSweeney, of Taihape, and Frederick Ward, of Mataroa, as executors of the will of John August Brandt, deceased, claimed from W. A. Bosher, of Pukeokahu, the sum of £3OO which amount, plaintiffs alleged, had been lent to defendant by the said John August Brandt on February I'7, 1930, and which had not been repaid. Defendant stated that the £3OO he had received from Brandt was a straightout gift and not a loan. After hearing evidence on this point the magistrate gave judgment in favour of Bosher. unemployment concert A reminder is given of the variety entertainment to be held in the Town Hall to-night (Wednesday) in aid of the unemployed. For weeks past, local artists have been rehearsing for the performance, and patrons will be agreeably surprised at the excellence of the programme to be presented to-night. Children will be admitted at halfprice. Heavy booking is reported and patrons hoping for a good seat are urged to book at once. The box plan is with the secretary (Mr. F. H. Bray). REPRESENTATIVE HOCKEY A men’s representative hockey match between Taihape and Feilding will be played at Taihape Io day (Wednesday) commencing at 3 p.rn. 'l’he following are the teams:— Feilding.—E.
