PATEA
MOTOR-CYCLE CLUB On Thursday evening there was a meeting of those interested in the formation of a Motor-cycle Club in Patea, the Mayor (Mr. F. Hams bottom) presiding. Mr. J. Bates, convener of the meeting, explained to those present that the object of thus forming a club for motor-cyclists was in order to hold competitions in road races, grass, hill climbing, petrol consumption, acceleration tests, and others would be arranged. There could be a medal donated for the member gaining most points during the year in the competitions. On Mr. Bates’ resolution and seconded by Mr. McKee, it was agreed that such a club should be formed. Messrs. E. Langshear, E. Argaard and A. Clarkson were elected a committee, with Mr. J. Bates as secretary and treasurer. The annual subscription was fixed at 2s 6d. After further discussion it was decided to hold a competition in grass hill climbing quite soon, and the committee were authorised to arrange further competitions.
