GOLD FROM FIJI

THE FIRST SHIPMENT COMPANY OPTIMISTIC SUVA, Aug. 11. The Monterey, sailing on Friday for Sydney, is taking two blocks of 143 ounces of fine gold, valued at £BOO in Fiji currency. It is the product of Kasi mine, Savusavu West, on the island of Vanualevu. This is the first gold exported from Fiji. The company is optimistic, but is still in the developmental stage. Fiji is no place for the small prospector.
