SCHOLARSHIP FOR N.Z. WAIEA.RAPA BOY HONOURED Received July 29, 12.45 p.m. LONDON, July 28. Among scholarships awarded under 1851 Exhibition Fund is one to Richard Barrer, of New Zealand, for physi cal chemical research at Cambridge. Mr. Barrer is a graduate of Canterbury College, having matriculated from the Wairarapa High School, Masterton. He is the second son of Mr. T. R. Barrer, of Masterton, member of the Wellington Harbour Board, and Mrs. Barrer, a prominent member of the Women’s Division of the Famers’ Union. Mr. Barrer has taken an out standing part in the harrier activities of Canterbury. He has represented his province in the New Zealand crosscountry championships, and his university at tennis. He was one year the first Rhodes Scholarship nominee from Canterbury. He leaves at the beginning of September.
